Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga Kaiju No. 8 is officially approaching its final chapter. Following the release of chapter 127 on June 6, 2025, it was confirmed on the Shonen Jump+ website that the manga will end with chapter 129. The second to last chapter is scheduled for June 20, with the grand finale soon after.
The announcement marks the end of a journey that began in July 2020, when Kaiju No. 8 first debuted on Shonen Jump+. The series quickly gained a massive following thanks to its gripping premise, memorable characters, and high stakes monster action. Readers have followed Kafka Hibino’s transformation from an everyday cleanup worker to a key figure in the war against humanity’s deadliest kaiju. Now, after four years of suspense, battles, and emotional highs, the story is coming to a close.
Matsumoto had already hinted at the manga’s impending conclusion back in July 2024, when the thirteenth volume was released. At the time, he mentioned that the climax was near and thanked readers for their continued support. His message reflected the passion he poured into every panel, saying he would give his all until the final chapter.
Since its debut, Kaiju No. 8 has been compiled into fifteen volumes as of March 2025. The manga has been widely accessible through Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform, offering readers around the world the chance to experience the story in English and other languages. Viz Media also brought the series to print in North America, further expanding its global reach.
The story’s success extended beyond the pages of manga. The anime adaptation by Production I.G aired from April to June 2024 and received praise for its cinematic quality and faithful adaptation. With season two set to premiere on July 19, 2025, fans will still have more kaiju action to look forward to even after the manga concludes.
As Kaiju No. 8 reaches its final moments, it leaves behind a legacy as one of the standout titles of modern shonen. The journey of Kafka Hibino has inspired fans with its blend of action, heart, and resilience in the face of overwhelming odds. The conclusion may be near, but its impact will stay with readers long after the last chapter is published.
