The second season of A Couple of Cuckoos continues to stir up emotional confusion and romantic entanglements with its latest preview for episode 2. Titled “Onii Confessed to You, Right?”, the upcoming installment promises major developments in Nagi’s relationship with Hiro and deeper revelations about their past. The new episode is scheduled to release on Tuesday, July 15, and the production team behind it includes director Yuki Iwasaki and writer Jou Aoba, both known for bringing heartwarming complexity to character driven stories.
The preview images and short trailer hint at a sequence of emotionally charged moments. One of the more striking developments involves Hiro being unexpectedly taken away from Erika, leading to a scene where she is returned to her home under unclear circumstances. Animation duties for season two are now handled by Studio Okuruto Noboru, taking over from the previous collaboration between Shin Ei Animation and SynergySP. The key staff for this episode includes chief animation directors Kyoko Chika and Sachiko Mori, whose work can already be seen in the fluid transitions and subtle visual storytelling featured in the preview.
The voice cast remains one of the major strengths of the series. Akari Kito brings a strong mix of charm and vulnerability to Erika Amano, while Kaito Ishikawa continues to anchor the narrative as the conflicted but earnest Nagi Umino. Nao Toyama as Hiro Segawa adds layers of emotional restraint and subtlety, especially in scenes that explore her hidden feelings. Konomi Kohara voices Sachi Umino with just the right balance of affection and rivalry, and Hina Youmiya rounds out the cast as Ai Mochizuki, whose role continues to intrigue viewers.
The series itself is a romantic comedy built on the complex premise of mistaken identity and sudden engagement. Erika and Nagi, born in different families due to a mix up at birth, are thrust into each other’s lives when their biological and adoptive parents propose they marry to “correct” the past. What follows is a maze of romantic interests, awkward cohabitation, and emotional confusion, as Nagi finds himself caught not only between Erika and Hiro but also dealing with his stepsister Sachi and childhood friend Ai.
