One of the most anticipated titles in the Summer 2025 anime slate, Gachiakuta is finally here. Adapted from the popular dark fantasy manga written by Kei Urana and designed by graffiti artist Hideyoshi Ando, the anime is now set to air for a full 24 episodes, divided into two consecutive cours. The announcement comes just as the series makes its official debut on July 6, 2025, backed by Bones Film, a division of the renowned Studio Bones.

The hype around Gachiakuta has been building steadily, thanks to its gritty world, unconventional aesthetic, and emotionally charged plot. Set in a dystopian society where class divides run deep and people from the slums are treated as disposable, the story follows Rudo, an orphan wrongfully accused of a crime he never committed. After being hurled into the abyss by society’s elites, Rudo miraculously survives the fall and begins a transformative journey in the underworld. What follows is a dark tale of revenge, justice, and unraveling the toxic structures that ruined his life.

According to trusted industry sources, all 24 episodes of Gachiakuta will air weekly between July 6 and December 14, 2025. The show will initially air in Japan on CBC, TBS, and 26 affiliated networks every Sunday at 11:30 pm JST, with international streaming platforms rolling out episodes just 30 minutes later. While some delays may occur depending on production schedules, no disruptions have been announced so far. Fans can expect the story to unfold consistently week after week, with the climax landing just before the end of the year.

For global fans, Gachiakuta will be widely accessible. Crunchyroll has secured distribution rights across a broad region, including North and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, India, and parts of Southeast Asia. Viewers in India will be able to enjoy the series in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu dubs, alongside the original Japanese audio with subtitles. This makes it one of the rare anime titles this season to cater to a regional audience with such depth.

The series will also be streamed on additional platforms such as Bilibili Global and Ani One Asia. Ani One’s Ultra Members can access the show in territories such as Hong Kong, Malaysia, Vietnam, Taiwan, and more. In Japan, audiences can watch the series on digital services like Lemino and d Anime Store, and on networks including AT X and BS Nippon TV.

Gachiakuta blends societal commentary with supernatural action, offering a story that is both deeply emotional and visually intense. The core of the narrative is Rudo’s mission to uncover the truth about the world’s structure and to confront the injustices that led to his downfall. After meeting Enjin, a member of the mysterious Cleaner Organization, Rudo takes up the role of a trash based monster hunter and sets out to reclaim not just his life but the dignity of those like him who have been discarded.

With the first episode now released and a clear broadcast plan ahead, the anime adaptation is already earning praise for its atmospheric animation and emotionally resonant opening. From the character designs to the soundtrack and world building, everything points to Gachiakuta being a dark horse contender for the most impactful anime of the year.

The series promises not just action, but layered storytelling that challenges the viewer to reflect on how society treats those who are pushed to the margins. It is not just about vengeance. It is about voice, visibility, and reclaiming humanity in a world that thrives on discarding people like trash.
