Digital manga platform formerly known under a different name has officially rebranded to Omoi, with its new website now live at omoi.com and the app titled Omoi Manga Reader. The service continues to host simulpub chapters as well as an expanding manga library across iOS, Android, and the web, accessible to readers outside Japan.
The rebranding represents more than a cosmetic change — it marks the beginning of a broader expansion strategy aimed at solidifying Omoi’s presence as a global manga destination.
Why the New Name?
Co-founder Evan Minto explains that the word “Omoi” translates to thought or feeling in Japanese, capturing the emotion, intention, and care the team places into both its manga releases and the design of its product. According to Minto, the previous name created confusion because several other companies used similar branding. The new identity allows the platform to stand apart with a name that resonates strongly with the cultural origin of its content.
Minto emphasizes that Omoi aims to reflect the depth and sentiment that manga evokes, making the new name both meaningful and strategically sound.
A Growing Catalog Since 2021
Omoi’s journey began in 2021, when it launched with titles from Kodansha USA, one of the largest manga publishers in the world. Over time, the platform diversified significantly:
-
In 2023, Omoi added more than 150 manga to its collection through partnerships with MediBang and Media Do International.
-
In 2024, it secured a deal with J-Novel Club, widening its selection beyond mainstream manga into light novels and niche fan-favorite genres.
The platform’s ongoing serials continue to attract consistent readership. Some of the notable titles include:
-
My Dear Detective: Mitsuko’s Case Files
-
Natsume and Natsume
-
You Are So Sloppy, Hotta-sensei
These series represent a mix of mystery, romance, comedy, and slice-of-life storytelling — genres that have strong international fan bases.
In addition to digital content, Omoi also supports print lines, featuring works such as:
-
Hikaru in the Light
-
Mecha Ude: Mechanical Arms
This dual approach of digital and print gives fans multiple ways to enjoy their favorite stories.
Looking Ahead: Major Expansion in 2026
Omoi has ambitious plans lined up for 2026, with a major catalog expansion already in development. While details have not yet been publicly disclosed, the company indicates that its future focus includes:
-
Adding new publishers and licensing partners
-
Strengthening its simulpub offerings
-
Continuing to support both digital releases and physical print editions
The goal is to evolve into a comprehensive destination for manga and light novel enthusiasts while maintaining a seamless experience across mobile and web platforms.
A Fresh Identity for a Growing Global Manga Community
With its new name and renewed vision, Omoi aims to build a platform that reflects authenticity, emotion, and editorial care. The rebrand positions the company to reduce confusion, improve recognition, and prepare for a larger, more diversified manga library.
As Omoi enters this next chapter, it remains focused on serving a global audience with high-quality releases and a reader-first experience — making it a brand to watch in the digital manga ecosystem.
