The adventure officially concludes for The Legendary Hero is Dead! God’s Land Arc. Shogakukan confirmed that the second volume, releasing January 19, will be the last for Subaruichi’s fantasy spinoff manga.
Originally launched in May 2022, the series served as a direct continuation of The Legendary Hero is Dead!—a fan-favorite blend of humor, action, and absurdity. Following a hiatus in 2023, the spinoff now brings the comedic saga to its final curtain.
The original manga, which ran from 2014 to 2020 in Ura Sunday, followed the bumbling farmer Touka, who accidentally kills the world’s hero, Sion. Forced into bizarre heroics after swapping bodies with the dead savior, Touka’s journey became a cult hit for its self-aware humor and unpredictable twists.
The spinoff, God’s Land Arc, explored the aftermath of Sion’s death in a divine realm, blending fantasy satire with poignant undertones about legacy and mortality. Fans can expect the final volume to wrap up lingering mysteries while maintaining Subaruichi’s trademark comedic style.
The manga previously inspired an anime adaptation in April 2023, which introduced the series to global audiences through its wacky premise and energetic tone.
With its final release, Subaruichi’s fantasy parody saga closes a decade-long chapter of laughter, chaos, and unlikely heroism.
