Fate Rewinder fans finally have a reason to celebrate as the widely praised manga is set to receive its television anime adaptation. Studio Bones, known for producing some of the most iconic anime in the past two decades, will be handling the animation for the series. The direction will be led by Rie Matsumoto, whose past work includes the visually striking Kyosogiga and the energetic Blood Blockade Battlefront. This new announcement has quickly become one of the most talked about developments of the Summer 2025 anime season.

The anime is being produced by STORY Inc., and the production team has already unveiled a teaser trailer and a visual to give fans their first glimpse of the adaptation. Fate Rewinder is described as a time leap action story, one that has already received glowing reviews from creators across different creative industries. The premise revolves around Chrono, a protagonist who travels through time in a desperate attempt to save people from cruel destinies. It is a series that dives deep into the ethics of intervention, sacrifice, and resilience, and the anime aims to bring those emotional stakes to life with cinematic animation and impactful storytelling.

In a heartfelt message, manga creator Futa Kimura expressed immense joy over the announcement. He acknowledged the collaborative spirit that brought the manga this far, including his editorial team, assistants, and especially the readers of CoroCoro Comic. He mentioned how thrilled he is to finally see Chrono animated and looked forward to the day fans would watch his character try again and again to alter fate on screen.

Director Rie Matsumoto shared an equally passionate statement. She described Fate Rewinder as a story that goes beyond entertainment. It is about redemption and the emotional weight of choosing to save others despite overwhelming odds. She highlighted how Chrono’s actions, no matter how exhausting or futile they may seem at times, symbolize a rare kind of heroism. Matsumoto noted that his refusal to allow anyone’s future to be written off in the name of convenience is what makes him such a remarkable and inspirational protagonist.

The original manga, Fate Rewinder, began as a one shot in January 2022 and went on to become a regular serialization in Monthly CoroCoro Comic the following month. As of April 2025, nine volumes have been published. The series has gained popularity for its intense emotional arcs, engaging action sequences, and the philosophical depth of its central theme. In many ways, it stands out from typical shonen titles due to its reflective pacing and the weight it places on emotional consequences rather than just physical conflict.

With Studio Bones already working on high profile projects like Gachiakuta and the final season of My Hero Academia, the addition of Fate Rewinder to its lineup shows the studio’s continued investment in high concept, emotionally layered stories. Fans of both the manga and the studio are eagerly awaiting more information about the release window, episode count, and casting.

Chrono, the central character, will also be featured on the upcoming August issue of Monthly CoroCoro Comic, further building hype around the project. As excitement builds and production gears up, Fate Rewinder looks poised to become one of the most significant anime launches of the upcoming year.
