Fans of There’s No Freaking Way I’ll Be Your Lover! Unless... can look forward to another wave of emotional confusion and romantic comedy as the preview for episode 3 has officially dropped. Slated to premiere on Tuesday, July 22, the upcoming episode promises to escalate the tension between Renako, Mai, and Ajisai with a surprise group hangout that will test everyone's patience, feelings, and boundaries.

The synopsis reveals that Renako is still trying to shake off the emotional confusion caused by the kiss, while Mai departs for Paris on a work trip. But the space doesn’t make things easier. Instead, it sets the stage for something even more complicated. After school, Renako and Ajisai share a quiet walk home, hold hands, and even plan to hang out later. For a moment, things seem simple and sweet. That is until Mai suddenly calls her a cheater. The kicker? They are not even officially dating.

Just when Renako thinks her day can’t get any more overwhelming, Ajisai visits her home and is unexpectedly joined by Mai, who brings along her younger sister Haruna. What follows is a four-person hangout full of underlying tension, awkward emotions, and the kind of romantic comedy chaos this series does best. With so many hearts involved and so few people actually saying what they feel, the episode is likely to spiral into a complex emotional mess, and fans are absolutely here for it.

The series continues to be animated by Studio MOTHER with Natsumi Uchinuma directing and Naruhisa Arakawa handling the script. The animation team, including Misaki Kaneko, Haruki Moriya, Takashi Shiokawa, Kino Tokino, and Keinosuke Ami, ensures each episode balances expressive character moments with visual charm. The character designs by kojikoji continue to highlight the personalities of each cast member, adding a rich emotional layer to every scene.

Adapted from the light novel by Teren Mikami with illustrations by Eku Takeshima, the anime dives into adolescent romance with humor, awkward honesty, and lots of heart. The original light novel was first released under Shueisha’s Dash X Bunko label in February 2020, and the story later expanded into a manga illustrated by Musshu. It has since found a growing fanbase through its realistic yet whimsical approach to teenage relationships.

As Renako juggles the rising emotions between her and two very different girls, the lines between friendship, love, jealousy, and confusion start to blur. Episode 3 might not bring clarity to anyone’s feelings just yet, but it is sure to bring emotional highs, sharp humor, and more of the romantic tension that viewers have come to love.
