One year after it first aired, Alya Sometimes Hides Her Feelings in Russian, popularly known as Roshidere, has officially announced its second season. The announcement was marked with the release of a soft, dreamy teaser visual and a confirmed release window of 2026. For fans of the first season, which wrapped up in September 2024, this news is more than just a date. It’s a chance to return to the charming world of Masachika Kuze and Alisa Mikhailovna Kujo, better known as Alya, the quiet class beauty who expresses her feelings in a language she assumes no one understands.

To celebrate the series' one year broadcast anniversary on July 3, the production team shared messages from both the original author and the main voice actors. Creator SunSunSun, whose light novel inspired the anime, assured fans that the anime original content being added in Season 2 has his full involvement and approval. His message emphasized the collaborative spirit between the studio and source creators, encouraging viewers to embrace the upcoming material with open arms and trust in the creative process.

Voice actor Kohei Amasaki, who plays Masachika, shared his excitement about returning to the role. He reflected on the enthusiastic fan response and promised to bring even more life to the moments that have yet to be animated. Most of all, he expressed his joy at getting to see Alya’s charming antics on screen once again. Sumire Uesaka, who voices Alya, joined in the celebration by writing a heartfelt message sprinkled with Russian. She expressed gratitude for the continued fan love and said she couldn’t wait to return to the role of Alya. Her delight was evident as she recalled fans constantly talking about how cute Alya was even long after Season 1 had ended.

The anime adaptation originally began as a light novel series written by SunSunSun and illustrated by Momoco. The story was first published online in 2020 before being picked up by Kadokawa in 2021. Since then, it has grown into a popular romcom series that blends language misunderstandings with heartfelt character development. It follows the daily life of Masachika Kuze, a sharp student with a painful past, and his seatmate Alya, a beautiful half Russian girl who teases him with sweet nothings spoken in Russian. What Alya doesn’t know is that Masachika actually understands Russian fluently, leading to many internal monologues and quiet reactions as he tries to keep up the charade.

The growing emotional complexity between the two leads is part of what made the first season such a hit. It goes beyond the simple school romance formula and introduces themes of identity, cultural duality, and emotional restraint. At the same time, the humor stays sharp and accessible, making it a light but meaningful watch for a wide audience.

The manga adaptation by Saho Tenamachi, currently serialized in Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket, continues to expand the story and has also drawn strong praise from fans of the anime. English speaking audiences have access to both the manga and novel through Yen Press, while Crunchyroll handles streaming for the anime globally.

With a 2026 release on the horizon and cast enthusiasm running high, Season 2 of Roshidere promises more heartfelt moments, playful banter, and new developments in the relationship between Masachika and Alya. Fans have plenty of time to catch up or rewatch the first season before the next chapter begins.
