Kaiju No 8 fans are in for an emotional thrill as the latest trailer for Season 2 previews the ending theme song "Beautiful Colors" by American pop rock band OneRepublic. The series, already known for its dynamic fusion of monster mayhem and heartfelt character arcs, is now leveling up its soundtrack. The new trailer, titled “The Will Lives On,” comes just days before the official premiere and has reignited excitement for one of 2025’s most anticipated anime returns.

Season 2 is set to launch worldwide on July 19, streaming simultaneously on X and Crunchyroll, with Netflix handling the release in selected parts of Asia. This season brings together a powerhouse collaboration yet again, with Production I G continuing its work on animation and Studio Khara returning for the creature designs. The studios’ teamwork has already given the series a distinctive visual edge, and the trailer shows they are pushing boundaries even further.

What’s especially notable about this new reveal is the choice of ending theme. OneRepublic, known globally for hit songs like "Counting Stars" and "Secrets," brings a sweeping emotional energy to the series with "Beautiful Colors." The inclusion of an international music act signals the anime’s growing global influence and sets a tone that blends both explosive action and intimate personal journeys.

This follows the earlier reveal of the opening theme, “You Can’t Run From Yourself” by Aurora, which captured fans with its raw and introspective tone. Together, these two songs create a powerful musical contrast that mirrors the show’s central conflict between human vulnerability and kaiju level strength.

Returning to the screen is voice actor Masaya Fukunishi, who reprises his role as Kafka Hibino, also known as Kaiju No 8. In a conversation at Anime Expo last year, Fukunishi shared insights about how emotionally layered the role has become, especially with Kafka’s ongoing struggle between duty and identity. He is joined by a stellar cast including Wataru Kato as Reno Ichikawa, Asami Seto as Mina Ashiro, Kengo Kawanishi as Soshiro Hoshina, and Tessho Genda as Isao Shinomiya. Koki Uchiyama is also back as Gen, a key character whose role is expected to grow significantly in the new season.

The anime’s rise to popularity has been meteoric. Based on the manga by Naoya Matsumoto, Kaiju No 8 first launched in July 2020 on Shonen Jump Plus and has since captivated readers with its high stakes action, military intrigue, and surprisingly touching character arcs. With fifteen volumes already published, the series is approaching its conclusion, as the manga is confirmed to end with its next chapter. Viz Media continues to publish the English edition, bringing the story to a wide international audience.

Kaiju No 8’s growing multimedia presence does not stop with anime and manga. Its first game adaptation, titled Kaiju No 8 THE GAME, recently showcased a playable demo at Anime Expo 2025. With over 300000 pre registrations globally, the game is gearing up for an official release later this year and is expected to let fans experience the world of kaiju battles firsthand.

From cinematic trailers and global music collaborations to a rapidly expanding franchise, Kaiju No 8 is evolving into a cultural phenomenon. With Season 2 now just days away, the countdown to July 19 is more than a premiere. It is the return of a story where monsters may dominate the battlefield, but humanity always finds a way to roar back.
