Kaiju No. 8 is officially back and fans are counting down the hours. The highly anticipated second season is set to launch on Saturday, July 19, 2025, with the first episode titled “Kaiju Weapon.” Ahead of the premiere, the production team has revealed preview images, giving audiences a first glimpse of what to expect from this action-packed sequel. The episode will be available for streaming on Crunchyroll with English subtitles and is also set to release on X and Netflix in select regions across Asia.
The new season opens amidst the fallout from Kaiju No. 10’s devastating attack on the Tachikawa Air Base, an event that pushes Japan to the edge of yet another crisis. The central mystery surrounding the fate of Kafka Hibino, who was taken into custody as the human-turned-Kaiju No. 8, continues to loom large. The story now turns its lens toward the newly reorganized Defense Forces. The 3rd Unit’s fresh recruits have been transferred and reassigned to missions across different regions, adding new dynamics and characters to the narrative.
Among these shifts, Kikoru Shinomiya finds herself relocated to the elite 1st Unit, a team considered the strongest within the entire Defense Forces. As she prepares to meet her new captain, Gen Narumi, fans can expect a clash of personalities and abilities that will likely define much of the early tension in this new arc. Season 2 is being directed once again by Shigeyuki Miya, with studio Production I.G returning to handle the animation. One Republic returns to perform the ending theme titled “Beautiful Colors,” while the opening theme “You Can’t Run From Yourself” is delivered by AURORA. Both artists are expected to elevate the tone of the series with emotionally charged music that matches the growing sense of urgency in the narrative.
