Anime Expo 2025 delivered one of its most heartwarming and eagerly awaited announcements as WIT Studio unveiled the first official trailer and visual for Season 4 of Ascendance of a Bookworm, titled Part 3: Adopted Daughter of an Archduke. With the new installment scheduled to premiere in Spring 2026, the fantasy series returns with a fresh production team and the same beloved literary obsession that has made it a favorite among fans of slow burn worldbuilding and deeply human storytelling.

This season, the protagonist Myne has now taken on a new identity as Rozemyne, having been adopted by the archduke of Ehrenfest. Her transition into nobility is far from smooth. Faced with the harsh realities of magic training, noble etiquette, and religious duties as the High Bishop, Rozemyne’s life becomes a difficult balancing act. But true to her core, her desire to read and distribute books remains stronger than ever. The season explores her continued attempts to bring the printing press to this medieval like world and how her actions begin to threaten the existing power dynamics. The newly released trailer hints at more dramatic turns, stunning fantasy visuals, and Rozemyne’s unshakable determination in a society resistant to change.

WIT Studio’s involvement has added further excitement, as the studio is known for its stellar visuals in titles like Attack on Titan and Vinland Saga. During the announcement, WIT Studio CEO George Wade shared his commitment to delivering clean animation and dynamic sequences that will bring this literary journey to life in a whole new way. This marks a notable shift from previous seasons which were animated by Studio Ajia do. The shift in production teams promises a richer aesthetic and more cinematic storytelling, potentially expanding the reach of the series beyond its core fanbase.

Yui Shibata, Managing Director of TO Books, highlighted the global appeal of the franchise. He noted that the light novel series has already been translated into more than 20 languages, making this new anime season not just a celebration of the tenth anniversary but also an opportunity to bring in new readers and viewers around the world. With a strong international presence and emotional storytelling at its heart, Ascendance of a Bookworm stands out as one of the more quietly powerful fantasy series in recent years.

The creative staff for Season 4 includes Yoshiaki Iwasaki as director, Mariko Kunisawa handling series composition, Aiko Minowa on character design, and Michiru returning to compose the music. The voice cast brings back Yuka Iguchi as Rozemyne and Sho Hayami as Ferdinand, continuing the familiar voices that have carried the story since its first adaptation. The synergy between new visuals and returning character dynamics sets the stage for another memorable season filled with emotional growth, societal commentary, and of course, lots of books.

Originally written by Miya Kazuki and illustrated by You Shiina, Ascendance of a Bookworm began as a web novel in 2013 before being published by TO Books. The series has since released 33 volumes, and its manga adaptations have kept pace with multiple artists handling the different arcs. The anime first aired in 2019 and gradually built a loyal following with its warm tone, detailed world, and character driven plot.

As Rozemyne’s world expands and the consequences of knowledge dissemination begin to unfold, this upcoming season is poised to become the most impactful chapter yet. Whether you are a longtime fan or a newcomer drawn in by the elegant new visuals, Ascendance of a Bookworm Part 3 offers a unique blend of magic, politics, and a deep love for books that continues to resonate.
