Romance, chaos, and unresolved feelings continue to swirl in A Couple of Cuckoos Season 2 as the anime releases a fresh preview for its highly anticipated third episode. Titled “That, but Times A Hundred,” the episode is set to premiere on Tuesday, July 22, and will be available to stream globally on Crunchyroll and Bilibili.

The preview teases a pivotal return Ai Mochizuki is back, and this time with a bold proposal. After years of waiting, Ai finally gets a response to the childhood confession she made to Nagi. But things have changed. Nagi now has a fiancée and someone else who holds his heart. Faced with this reality, Ai surprises everyone by calmly accepting his honesty. Instead of pushing him away, she invites Nagi to revisit the old candy shop they once frequented, reigniting shared memories from a simpler time.

The emotional weight of the episode is made even more compelling with Masakazu Hishida handling the script and Hideaki Uehara directing and storyboarding the visuals. The series continues to be animated by Studio Okuruto Noboru, maintaining the vibrant and expressive animation style that fans have come to love.

Episode 3 will feature familiar voices with Akari Kito returning as Erika Amano, Kaito Ishikawa as Nagi Umino, Nao Toyama as Hiro Segawa, Konomi Kohara as Sachi Umino, and Hina Youmiya stepping back into the role of Ai Mochizuki. With Ai now fully reentering Nagi’s orbit, her presence is bound to complicate the already tangled web of romantic entanglements that make this series such an entertaining ride.

The larger narrative of A Couple of Cuckoos continues to balance humor and emotional stakes. It all began with a simple case of mistaken identity Erika and Nagi were switched at birth and raised in two very different families. Once the truth is discovered, their parents decide on a sudden engagement that throws their lives together. From there, Nagi finds himself in a house full of emotional tension, surrounded by Erika, his not-related-by-blood sister Sachi, his classmate and crush Hiro, and now his long-lost childhood sweetheart Ai.

As the series progresses, it becomes less about who Nagi will choose and more about how these young individuals navigate the messiness of love, family, and identity. Every episode adds a new layer, and episode 3 looks ready to bring nostalgia, unresolved tension, and maybe a few laughs along the way.

The candy shop visit hinted in the preview suggests an episode rooted in shared memories, but also one that could shake up current dynamics. Will Ai’s calm demeanor hide deeper feelings, or will her reappearance be the final push Nagi needs to confront his own emotions? Fans won’t have to wait long to find out.
