The latest Jujutsu Kaisen compilation film, titled Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death – The Movie, has landed in controversy after leaked images and clips from the movie’s final moments began circulating online. In response, the official X (formerly Twitter) account for the Jujutsu Kaisen anime released a public warning, firmly addressing the issue of unauthorized recording and sharing of theatrical content.

According to the statement, filming or photographing a movie inside a cinema is a criminal offense under Japan’s Law for Prevention of Unauthorized Recording of Films. The law, also known as the Film Piracy Prevention Law, has strict enforcement protocols. Sharing any such illegally obtained visuals through social media platforms like X, YouTube, TikTok, or Facebook is considered copyright infringement under the Copyright Act.

The warning emphasizes that anyone caught violating these laws may face up to 10 years in prison or a fine of up to 10 million yen, which is around 64,000 US dollars. In some cases, both penalties may apply. The production committee has asked fans to avoid recording or posting any part of the film to preserve the viewing experience for everyone and to respect the hard work behind the film’s release.

The issue became public after still images from the movie’s ending were spotted circulating across X and other sites, drawing quick attention from fans and the production team alike. The creators took swift action, not only to protect their intellectual property but also to reinforce the importance of experiencing the story as it was meant to be told  in theaters.

The compilation film officially opened in Japanese theaters on May 30 and features updated animation along with additional Juju Stroll mini anime segments starring Gojo, Geto, and Shoko. The cast has described the film as more than just a recap, insisting that it offers new content that makes it a must see for fans. North American audiences can look forward to the U.S. release in July 2025, handled by distributor GKIDS.

Jujutsu Kaisen: Hidden Inventory / Premature Death revisits one of the anime’s most emotionally charged arcs and bridges it with the explosive Shibuya Incident storyline. These were both covered in the second season, which aired from July to December 2023. The new film adds polish and expansion to these arcs, giving longtime viewers another reason to return to the world of sorcery and curses.

The Jujutsu Kaisen franchise has only continued to grow in popularity since the manga began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2018. By 2024, the series had surpassed 100 million copies in circulation. Its first anime season aired in 2020, followed by the hit film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, and then season two in 2023. With a sequel anime adapting the Culling Game arc already announced, the story is far from over.

The official team behind Jujutsu Kaisen has made it clear that they are taking leaks seriously. They are urging fans not only to avoid recording or distributing any content from the film, but also to report any such content when they see it online. This collaborative effort between the creators and the fanbase ensures that the experience remains authentic and respectful for everyone.
