A brand new romantic drama is ready to bloom this summer. The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity, also known as Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku, has officially announced its Japanese TV premiere date as July 5. Alongside this news, a fresh trailer, new key visual, and details about the anime’s theme songs have all been unveiled, giving fans an early look at the heartfelt tone and elegance the series promises to deliver.
The anime is being brought to life by Studio CloverWorks, a name already known for its work on emotionally rich titles. The direction is led by Miyuki Kuroki, with associate direction by Satoshi Yamaguchi. Rino Yamazaki handles series composition, Koheu Tokuka leads character design and animation direction, and Moeki Harada is in charge of the music.
Netflix has also confirmed that it will stream the anime globally sometime in 2025, ensuring the series will reach a much wider audience beyond Japan.
Adding to the anticipation is the announcement of the opening and ending themes. Tatsuya Kitani will perform the opening song titled “Manazashi wa Hikari,” while the ending song “Hare no Hi ni” will be sung by UshioReira. Both artists bring a gentle yet stirring energy that reflects the anime’s romantic and emotional atmosphere. Fans will get a sneak peek at the show in advance during a screening event at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi Hills on June 29.
The cast features Honoka Inoue as Kaoruko Waguri and Yoshinori Nakayama as Rintaro Tsumugi, with supporting roles voiced by Kikunosuke Toya, Koki Uchiyama, Hiiro Ishibashi, and Aya Yamane. Each voice actor brings warmth and authenticity to a story that is rooted in emotional connection and personal transformation.
The anime is based on the manga written and illustrated by Saka Mikami, which debuted in October 2021 on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform. The manga’s story revolves around Rintaro, a kind hearted second year student at Chidori High, a school known for its troubled boys. While working at his family’s patisserie, Rintaro meets Kaoruko, a poised girl from the elite Kikyo Girls’ High next door. Their connection feels effortless, but it is quickly tested by the unspoken rules and judgment that exist between their two very different schools.
As Kaoruko and Rintaro try to understand each other and protect their growing bond, they must navigate the unkind whispers of their classmates and the social expectations that threaten to pull them apart. What unfolds is a story about vulnerability, courage, and choosing kindness even when the world around them draws lines they never asked for.
The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity brings an emotional blend of romance and self discovery to the screen, and it looks ready to captivate viewers with its sincere storytelling and stunning visual quality.
