A Skincare Spin on a Legendary Franchise

Although Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan manga ended in 2021, the series is still finding bold new ways to stay relevant. The latest venture, titled Men’s Beauty Tips, reimagines the iconic characters in a four-part manga series that focuses on men’s skincare. Released as part of Shiseido’s “Empower Your Skin” campaign, the project cleverly transforms skincare concerns into metaphorical battles, staying true to the dramatic tone of the original work.

The first chapter debuted on September 16 through Shiseido’s official online store, with three more installments set to roll out monthly through December. Each chapter uses the characters and themes of Attack on Titan to deliver relatable advice about health and skincare in a playful, story-driven way.

Titans of Skincare: Eren and Levi Lead the Charge

Episode one, Recognize the Hidden Weaknesses of Men’s Skin, features a conversation between Levi Ackerman and Eren Yeager. Rather than preparing to battle monstrous titans, Levi urges Eren to face skin problems head-on. Dryness and excess oil are depicted as hidden enemies, waiting behind metaphorical “walls” to strike, making the guidance feel as intense as any titan showdown.

This fresh take gives fans a chance to see their favorite characters in a new context while encouraging audiences to think about self-care in a fun and accessible way.

Global Legacy of Attack on Titan

Since its debut in 2009, Attack on Titan has sold over 140 million copies across 180 countries and spawned one of the most successful anime adaptations worldwide. The series’ blend of tragedy, survival, and high-stakes battles left a lasting mark on global pop culture. Even after the story’s conclusion, its characters remain cultural icons, now stepping into everyday contexts like this unique Shiseido campaign.

For some, the crossover might feel surprising, but the metaphor works seamlessly. Just as the characters in the original series pushed past fear and barriers, this new manga encourages readers to overcome personal challenges, even as ordinary as skincare.

A Creative Future for the Franchise

The Men’s Beauty Tips manga is proof that Attack on Titan still has the ability to surprise audiences with new forms of storytelling. Whether through anime, films, collaborations, or spin-offs, the franchise continues to expand its reach and explore inventive ways to remain relevant. For fans, it is a reminder that the legacy of Eren, Levi, and the others will continue far beyond the original manga’s ending.
