The upcoming horror anime Kaya chan Isn’t Scary has just dropped its first teaser trailer and fans are already buzzing. The series introduces a new kind of fright, not with monsters lurking in the dark, but in the colorful, innocent world of kindergarten. The trailer not only gives a glimpse into the unique blend of cute and creepy but also confirms the voice cast and key production staff involved in the project. Although the release date has not been confirmed yet, anticipation is already growing for this unusual and fascinating anime.

At the heart of the story is Kaya chan, a kindergarten girl known for being difficult to handle. But her behavior is not what it seems. The real twist begins when Chie sensei is assigned to supervise her and uncovers Kaya’s secret ability. Kaya can see evil spirits and uses her tiny fists to banish them. The chaos and charm of a child fighting supernatural forces while attending school sets the stage for a story that mixes horror with unexpected warmth.

The voice cast brings strong talent to the project. Azusa Tachibana voices the spirited Kaya chan, while Maaya Uchida brings depth and presence to Chie sensei. Their chemistry is already noticeable in the teaser, and fans are eager to see how their dynamic unfolds in the full series.

Behind the scenes, the anime is in capable hands. Directed by Hiroshi Ikehata, known for his work on several unique anime titles, and written by Shigeru Murakoshi, the series is built on a strong creative foundation. Character designs are led by Taro Yamada and Hiroyuki Moriguchi, while the sound direction is handled by Yukio Nagasaki. The music score, crafted by KOHTA YAMAMOTO and Shun Narita, adds tension and charm in equal measure. The animation is produced by EAST FISH STUDIO, a name steadily gaining recognition for its high quality work.

Kaya chan Isn’t Scary is based on the manga by Taro Yuri, which began serialization in April 2022 on Shinchosha’s Kurage Bunch website. The manga has released six volumes so far, with the seventh scheduled for June 9, 2025. Since its announcement in November last year, the anime adaptation has been one of the more intriguing projects in the horror genre, especially given its unexpected kindergarten setting.

Seven Seas Entertainment, which licensed the manga in English, describes it as a blend of playful horror and heartwarming storytelling. Kaya may look like a misbehaving five year old, but she is actually a spirit fighting prodigy, misunderstood by adults and often punished despite trying to help. Her adventures promise to be both eerie and endearing, appealing to fans who enjoy character driven supernatural tales.

As fans await more updates and an official release date, this teaser has already set the tone for what could be one of the most refreshingly different horror anime in years. With a young protagonist, supernatural battles, and a dose of emotional storytelling, Kaya chan Isn’t Scary is shaping up to be a must watch title.
