The Story of A Gatherer’s Adventure in Isekai

Based on Masuo Kinoko’s light novel series, the story follows Takeru Kamishiro, an ordinary office worker who is suddenly transported into a fantastical world named Madeus. In this world filled with swords, sorcery, and hidden treasures, Takeru discovers that he has not only incredible physical and magical powers but also a unique ability to “search” for valuable items. Armed with this rare skill, he begins his journey across Madeus, ready to carve out an extraordinary life in his new world.
The light novel, launched on AlphaPolis in 2017, has since grown into a major hit with over 1.73 million copies in circulation. The series won both the grand prize and the readers’ choice award in the 9th AlphaPolis Fantasy Novel Prizes, cementing its place as a standout in the isekai genre. A manga adaptation illustrated by Tomozo has also been serialized since 2018, with multiple volumes already in circulation.
Why Fans Are Excited
A Gatherer’s Adventure in Isekai sets itself apart from other isekai stories by blending typical fantasy tropes with the unique “search” ability that makes Takeru’s journey distinct. Rather than focusing only on flashy battles, the story leans into exploration, discovery, and strategy. This fresh approach, combined with the detailed animation work and an exciting soundtrack, has raised expectations among fans eager for a new twist on the genre.
