Gnosia Anime Launches Globally on Crunchyroll

Fans of psychological sci-fi and mystery now have a new series to watch. Crunchyroll has officially begun streaming the television adaptation of Petit Depotto’s cult hit game Gnosia, which first aired in Japan on October 11 across multiple networks, including Tokyo MX, MBS, BS11, and AT-X. The series is also available on ABEMA and d Anime Store for Japanese audiences.

The announcement came through a brand-new trailer that previewed the show’s haunting atmosphere and its theme songs. MAISONdes performs the opening track “Bake no Kawa,” featuring Kobo Kanaeru, Kasane Teto, Giga, and Teddyloid, while Ling Tosite Sigure delivers the ending theme “Loo Who,” both of which add to the show’s eerie and futuristic tone.

A Dark Mystery Among the Stars

Based on the original game’s premise, Gnosia unfolds aboard a drifting spaceship where the crew faces an unknown enemy hidden among them. The mysterious beings known as Gnosia disguise themselves as humans, spreading paranoia and mistrust throughout the group. As suspicion grows, the crew members vote to place one person at a time into cold sleep, hoping to eliminate the alien threat. But with deception at every turn, it becomes increasingly unclear who is truly human and who is not.

This gripping blend of sci-fi tension, psychological drama, and survival strategy has made Gnosia a cult favorite among gamers and is now set to captivate anime audiences worldwide.

Star-Studded Cast and Creative Team

The anime features an impressive ensemble cast, including Hiroki Nanami as Racio, Ikumi Hasegawa as Setsu, Chika Anzai as Yuri, Akari Kito as SQ, Asami Seto as Jina, and Tomokazu Seki as Shigemichi. The cast also includes Saori Hayami, Aoi Yuki, Ayane Sakura, Yuichi Nakamura, Kenjiro Tsuda, and Kana Hanazawa, among others, bringing the game’s intriguing characters to life with emotional depth and intensity.

Kazuya Ichikawa, known for his work on Burning Kabaddi and The World Ends with You, directs the series at studio domerica. The scripts are handled by Jukki Hanada, whose past credits include Love Live and Sound Euphonium. Character design adaptation is led by Arisa Matsuura, while music is composed by Hideyuki Fukasawa, adding a cinematic flair to the chilling atmosphere.

The production team also includes Mayumi Kamada and Mari Takada as art directors, Tatsuya Nomura as compositing director of photography, and Ryosuke Naya as sound director, ensuring that the visual and auditory experience matches the game’s immersive and suspenseful tone.

From Game to Global Phenomenon

Gnosia was first released for the PlayStation Vita in Japan in 2019 before being ported to the Nintendo Switch in 2020. The game gained global attention when Playism published it digitally for the Switch in North America in 2021, followed by PC and console releases across PlayStation and Xbox platforms in 2022 and 2023.

Praised for its unique combination of social deduction mechanics, time-loop storytelling, and emotional depth, Gnosia’s transition to anime has been highly anticipated. Its complex narrative and psychological tension make it a perfect fit for the medium, promising an experience that keeps viewers guessing until the very end.

A Promising Adaptation for Sci-Fi Fans

The Gnosia anime looks set to deliver everything fans loved about the game — mystery, atmosphere, and emotional storytelling — while expanding its world through stunning animation and an evocative soundtrack.
