A Whimsical Take on Folklore

Ugoku! Neko Mukashibanashi, also known as “Moving! Cat Folk Tales,” is set to stream on its official YouTube channel starting October 15, bringing to life the quirky and lighthearted world created by manga artist pandania. The series asks a simple yet amusing question: What if cats appeared in those beloved stories we grew up with?

From Cinderella to Momotaro to Alice in Wonderland, every timeless tale gets a fresh feline twist. The new trailer teases comical and adorable retellings, while the vibrant key art features cats stepping into roles across famous legends and fairy tales from Japan and around the globe.

The series boasts an impressive voice cast that adds extra charm to the quirky stories:

The Manga That Inspired the Series

The anime adapts pandania’s four-panel comedy manga Neko Mukashibanashi, which playfully inserts cats into legendary tales both modern and ancient. Known for its cozy humor and clever reinterpretations, the manga has already charmed readers, and now fans can enjoy it in animated form.
