The beloved shojo fantasy series The Ogre’s Bride has officially been greenlit for a TV anime adaptation, marking a major milestone in its journey from short story to screen. The announcement was made by Starts Publishing on June 9, celebrating not only the upcoming anime but also the franchise's incredible achievement of surpassing 5.8 million copies in circulation across its light novels and manga editions.

Originally written by author Kureha, The Ogre’s Bride began as a brief 20,000 character story posted on Start Publishing’s web novel platform Novema. Its popularity led to a complete rewrite, the release of a full paperback light novel, and eventually a serialized manga adaptation illustrated by Jun Togashi on the publisher’s Noicomi platform. Now, the story is taking the next step with its anime debut, generating excitement among fans worldwide.

To commemorate the announcement, the creators behind the story shared heartfelt messages with fans. Kureha expressed deep gratitude to everyone who has supported the series since its inception, describing the journey from short story to anime as a surreal and joyous experience. The author said it was a dream come true to finally see the characters brought to life on screen and thanked readers for making it possible.

Light novel illustrator Yu Shiroya also joined in the celebration, sharing their enthusiasm for seeing beloved characters Yuzu and Reiya animated.
