A Beautiful Farewell to Season One
After thirteen episodes of heartfelt romance and emotional storytelling, The Fragrant Flower Blooms with Dignity has released a special movie to mark the conclusion of its first season. The final episode aired in Japan and is now available on Netflix Japan, giving audiences a chance to experience the ending alongside a bonus treat celebrating the journey of its beloved characters.
The Team Behind the Story
Studio CloverWorks brought this romantic drama to life with careful direction and strong visuals. Miyuki Kuroki directed the anime with support from associate director Satoshi Yamaguchi. The script was crafted by Rino Yamazaki while Koheu Tokuka designed the characters and served as chief animation director. Music and theme performances added emotional depth, with Tatsuya Kitani delivering the opening theme “Manazashi wa Hikari” and Reira Ushio singing the ending theme “Hare no Hi ni.”
The Cast Who Brought It to Life
The series featured a talented voice cast including Honoka Inoue as Kaoruko Waguri and Yoshinori Nakayama as Rintaro Tsumugi. Their chemistry on screen was enhanced by supporting performances from Kikunosuke Toya as Shohei Usami, Koki Uchiyama as Saku Natsusawa, Hiiro Ishibashi as Ayato Yorita, and Aya Yamane as Subaru Hoshina. Together, the cast gave life to a moving story about love, class differences, and the struggles of youth.
A Manga That Touched Many Hearts
Based on Saka Mikami’s manga Kaoru Hana wa Rin to Saku, the anime adaptation captured the emotional highs and lows of a love story set between two very different schools. The manga, still serialized on Kodansha’s Magazine Pocket platform, follows Rintaro, a boy from Chidori High with a tough exterior but kind heart, and Kaoruko, a girl from the prestigious Kikyo Girls’ High. Their unexpected bond blossoms against the odds, leading to both sweet moments and difficult challenges.
Looking Ahead
While the anime’s first season has ended, the manga continues, offering fans more of Rintaro and Kaoruko’s story. The special movie serves as both a thank-you to the fans and a bridge for what may come next.
