Zoro and His Three Sword Style

Zoro is one of the most iconic characters in Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece, famous for his unique Three Sword Style. Carrying a blade in each hand and a third in his mouth, Zoro pushes the boundaries of swordsmanship. Over the course of the series, he has collected and lost several powerful katanas, with each one playing a vital role in shaping his strength and legacy.

Wado Ichimonji

Zoro’s first named sword is Wado Ichimonji, one of the 21 Great Grade Swords. Forged by Shimotsuki Kozaburo, it originally belonged to Zoro’s childhood rival Kuina. After her tragic death, Zoro inherited the blade. Known for its incredible sharpness and durability, Wado Ichimonji survived Mihawk’s devastating attack when other swords broke, cementing itself as Zoro’s most treasured weapon. It continues to accompany him into the Final Saga of One Piece.

Sandai Kitetsu

Introduced in Loguetown, Sandai Kitetsu is infamous for its curse. Forged by Kozuki Sukiyaki, this Grade Sword has a reputation for bringing misfortune to its wielders. Zoro’s fearless nature led him to test the curse by tossing the blade into the air and trusting fate. It narrowly missed him, proving his luck and earning him ownership. Despite being one of Zoro’s weaker swords, Sandai Kitetsu remains an important part of his arsenal.

Yubashiri

Alongside Sandai Kitetsu, Zoro received Yubashiri, a Skillful Grade Sword gifted by the shop owner in Loguetown. Known for its lightweight and swift handling, Yubashiri served Zoro well until it met a tragic end. During the Buster Call on Enies Lobby, a Marine captain with the Rust-Rust Fruit destroyed it. Zoro later laid the sword to rest at Thriller Bark, honoring its legacy before moving on to even stronger weapons.

Shusui

Zoro acquired Shusui after a duel with the legendary samurai Ryuma’s reanimated corpse on Thriller Bark. Recognized for his strength, Zoro was gifted the blade. As one of the 21 Great Grade Swords, Shusui stands out as a black blade permanently infused with Haki. Its immense power made it a national treasure of Wano, but when Zoro arrived in Wano, he returned Shusui to Ryuma’s grave. In exchange, he received an even greater challenge—Enma.

Enma

Currently Zoro’s most formidable sword, Enma was once wielded by Kozuki Oden. This Great Grade Sword has the unique ability to draw out excessive amounts of Haki from its wielder, making it difficult to control. However, in the hands of Zoro, it unleashed attacks powerful enough to scar Kaido himself. Enma remains a sword with untapped potential, rumored to ascend into the rank of Supreme Grade once fully mastered.

The Legacy of Zoro’s Blades

From Wado Ichimonji’s sentimental value to Enma’s overwhelming power, each of Zoro’s swords represents a stage in his journey. Some, like Yubashiri, met tragic fates, while others, like Enma, challenge Zoro to surpass his limits. Yet one detail remains—Zoro has yet to wield a Supreme Grade Sword like his mentor Mihawk. The day he acquires one may mark the moment he finally rivals the world’s strongest swordsman.
