A new chapter in Hideo Kojima’s visionary universe is officially in motion. The legendary game creator has announced DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS (working title), an original anime series set to premiere exclusively on Disney Plus Star in 2027. The reveal took place during the Disney Plus Original Preview 2025 event held at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel Convention Center.
Based on Kojima Productions’ iconic 2019 video game, which sold over twenty million copies worldwide, DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS will explore the fragile connections that define humanity in a fractured world. Rather than retelling protagonist Sam Porter Bridges’ story, the anime follows new “nameless individuals” surviving in isolated outposts—each facing loneliness, loss, and the desperate need for connection.
Hideo Kojima himself will serve as executive producer, ensuring the series maintains the signature themes of introspection and isolation that defined the game. Animation will be produced by E&H Production, the acclaimed studio behind BULLET/BULLET and NINJAKAMUI, with Takayuki Sano directing.
Concept art by renowned illustrator Ilya Kuvshinov (Ghost in the Shell SAC_2045) sets the tone for the series—showing a boy and girl gazing across a desolate yet hopeful landscape. The designs retain the eerie yet beautiful atmosphere Kojima fans expect, merging humanity’s fragility with otherworldly elegance.
As Kojima continues expanding his cross-media storytelling, DEATH STRANDING ISOLATIONS marks his boldest leap yet—from game controller to streaming screen.
