Gigguk’s long awaited anime debut is getting more exciting by the day. Following its official announcement at Anime Expo, Baan – The Boundaries of Adulthood has now dropped a preview of its original soundtrack composed by Kevin Penkin. Titled “Khlui,” the track blends emotional undertones with Southeast Asian influence, offering a glimpse into the immersive world the anime plans to build. The title of the track, as revealed by Gigguk in a post, is inspired by a traditional Thai bamboo instrument that holds deep personal significance for him. His mother used to play the instrument frequently, and it shaped much of his early musical exposure.

The anime is produced under the newly launched GeeXProductions label, which is part of GeeXPlus, a content focused subsidiary of KADOKAWA. Alongside Baan, this new label is also backing projects like Soul Mart and Otachan! Rabbit Season, pointing to a strong future of creator led anime content. Baan is especially noteworthy as it brings together the talents of director Yoshimitsu Ohashi, screenwriter Megumi Hosaka, and art director Sato Takahara, among others, to bring Gigguk’s vision to life. The animation is being handled by studio daisy, with music led by Kevin Penkin and sound direction from Ai Addiction.

The character designs have been crafted by Hanyu, while the animation direction is under Marin Inai. Gigguk, whose real name is Garnt Maneetapho, serves as the supervising director and original creator. His fingerprints are all over the series, and his fans are eager to see how his years of anime analysis and commentary have translated into storytelling. The anime’s main characters, Rin and Daichi, will be voiced by Sydney Poniewaz in English and Haruna Mikawa and Shoya Ishige in Japanese, respectively.

The story follows two individuals who seek to escape the confines of their home worlds and search for a life where they truly belong. Their journey takes them to Euthania, a magical realm filled with diverse races and a strong influence from Southeast Asian mythology. Connected to Japan through a mysterious warp gate, Euthania is designed to feel lush, ancient, and unlike the usual settings of isekai anime. The theme of the show centers on emotional maturity and finding one’s place in a world that constantly changes. Rather than relying purely on flashy battles or tropes, Baan seems focused on introspection and discovery, both personal and cultural.

In a rare move, the anime will first premiere in theatres in Japan at Grand Cinema Sunshine in August. After the limited theatrical release, the series will be available for free on Gigguk’s YouTube channel. This distribution strategy is aimed at both anime fans and Gigguk’s global audience, allowing easy access without barriers. Adding to the excitement, a behind the scenes documentary will also be released, giving fans an intimate look into the making of this passion project. The anime community has long awaited this debut from one of YouTube’s most influential anime creators, and the pieces are falling into place beautifully.

Baan represents a new chapter not only for Gigguk as a creator but also for how anime projects can be developed with a creator first approach. With stunning visuals, a heartfelt story, and a soundtrack rooted in cultural heritage, it is shaping up to be a series that blends entertainment with emotional authenticity.
