A Henchman’s Life Takes the Spotlight
Ganglion introduces viewers to Kenji Isobe, an ordinary man working as a professional henchman for the villainous Ganglion Corporation. While the organization hatches world domination plots like “Operation Tokyo Cedar Pollen” and “Operation Mount Fuji Detonation,” Kenji must also navigate the chaos of daily workplace struggles. From harsh bosses and office politics to inevitable defeats at the hands of the superhero HOPEMAN, Kenji’s office life is anything but normal.
New Trailer and Theme Song
The newly released trailer highlights Kenji’s odd but oddly relatable day-to-day experiences as a minion caught between evil plans and corporate bureaucracy. Fans also get their first taste of the ending theme “Miracle” by NIKO NIKO TAN TAN, a lively track that perfectly matches the show’s satirical yet upbeat tone.
Production and Staff
The series is based on the manga by Hisaya Shiraiwa and Takashi Itsuki, originally serialized by Yoshimoto Books before being collected in 2009. Directed by Ayumu Watanabe at studio maf, the anime features a creative team that includes Tomoaki Shiono for series composition, Harise on screenplay, and Shigeru Fujita as character designer and chief animation director. The music is composed by Takeo Asami, further boosting the comedic yet cinematic style of the series.
Why Ganglion Stands Out
Unlike traditional action anime centered on heroes, Ganglion flips the script by focusing on the henchmen—the unsung and often underappreciated foot soldiers of villain organizations. Set in the early 2000s, the anime blends nostalgia with sharp satire, poking fun at both Japanese corporate culture and the classic superhero versus villain formula. For fans of quirky comedies and offbeat storytelling, Ganglion is shaping up to be a refreshing watch this season.
