Anime fans tuning in for the next chapter of Gachiakuta will have to wait a little longer. The third episode of the action-packed series will not air on its original July 20 slot due to national election coverage across major Japanese networks. Instead, the episode is now scheduled to premiere on Sunday, July 27 at 11:30 PM Japan Standard Time on CBC and TBS networks.

Japanese broadcasters often prioritize political events during national elections, leading to scheduling changes for entertainment programming. This adjustment has also impacted other major anime, including the next episode of One Piece, which has similarly been pushed back. For Gachiakuta, this delay comes just as the series was gaining momentum in its first cour, following a gripping second episode that introduced several key plot twists and characters.

Despite the temporary pause, anticipation remains high. The anime, produced by BONES FILM, is expected to run for two consecutive cours, promising a deeper dive into the gritty world of protagonist Rudo. As the story unfolds, Rudo’s journey from being wrongfully exiled into a wasteland filled with mutated creatures to his initiation into the Cleaners is just beginning.

The team behind Gachiakuta includes industry veterans like Fumihiko Suganuma as director and Hiroshi Seko, known for his work on DAN DA DAN, as series composer. Satoshi Ishino handles character design and chief animation direction, while the dynamic soundtrack is composed by Taku Iwasaki. With a dark setting and intense action sequences, the series has been praised for its powerful visuals and emotional storytelling.

At this year’s Anime Expo 2025, creators Kei Urana and Hideyoshi Andou along with producer Naoki Amano spoke about their vision for Gachiakuta, highlighting the importance of world-building and emotional realism in adapting the original manga to screen. Their comments further reinforced the show's ambition to push the boundaries of traditional shonen storytelling.

Crunchyroll continues to simulcast Gachiakuta for international audiences, with new episodes becoming available shortly after their Japanese broadcast. While the delay may be disappointing for fans eager to see the next installment, the break could also build more anticipation for what is expected to be a pivotal episode in the series’ arc.
