A Growing Roster of Fighters

Bandai Namco Entertainment has released a new video for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero, giving fans a look at all 208 characters currently playable in the game. The video concluded with a surprise teaser as the character counter ticked up to 209 with the words “To be continued,” confirming that the roster will continue to expand with future DLC. This announcement fuels the excitement for fans who have already embraced the game’s staggering roster size, making it one of the most character-packed entries in the Dragon Ball franchise.

The DLC Journey So Far

The game has already delivered multiple DLC packs that introduced characters from Dragon Ball Daima. The first Daima pack, launched in April, added Vegeta (Mini) in several forms, Super Saiyan Goku (Mini), Glorio, Majin Kuu, and Panzy, along with a new costume for Goku (Mini) featuring Aura Impact. A second Daima pack followed in September, featuring Super Saiyan 4 Goku (Mini), the Daima version of Super Saiyan 4 Goku, Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta, Majin Duu, and the powerful Gomah variations, alongside the “First Demon World” stage as a free update.

Earlier in the year, the Hero of Justice pack introduced Gamma 1, Gamma 2, Cell Max, multiple Piccolo forms including Orange Piccolo, and Gohan transformations up to Beast Gohan. Extra costumes and custom battles rounded out that update. Another fan-favorite addition came in June when Shallot, an original character designed by Akira Toriyama for the Dragon Ball Legends mobile game, officially joined the Sparking! Zero lineup.

Release Platforms and Special Editions

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero initially launched in October 2024 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. Fans who purchased the Premium Collector’s, Deluxe, or Ultimate editions gained early access three days before its official release. The game is set to arrive on Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 on November 14, broadening its reach to even more players.

Modes and Gameplay Features

The game offers several modes designed to immerse players in the Dragon Ball universe. Episode Battle lets players experience the story through the eyes of eight key characters, including Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Future Trunks, Frieza, Goku Black, and Jiren. This mode includes branching “what if” scenarios that diverge from the original storyline. Custom Battles allow fans to create and share unique scenarios online, while Bonus Battles crafted by the developers provide fresh challenges. Alongside online multiplayer and single-player modes, the game also features offline local multiplayer, though limited to the Hyperbolic Time Chamber stage.

Why This Matters for Fans

The Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero roster is already one of the most impressive in fighting game history, but the “To be continued” teaser signals even bigger things ahead. With Dragon Ball Daima tying directly into DLC content and more surprise fighters teased, fans can expect the game to keep evolving well beyond its first year. For longtime Dragon Ball fans and competitive fighters alike, this is shaping up to be the definitive arena battle experience.
