A Major Reveal at Aniplex Online Fest 2025
During the Anime + More News Part 3 segment at Aniplex Online Fest 2025, fans finally received the update they were waiting for—Daemons of the Shadow Realm will make its television debut in 2026. The announcement came alongside a brand-new trailer that showcased both the series’ tone and its stellar voice cast. Crunchyroll has already confirmed that it will stream the anime across multiple regions, including North and South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, the Middle East, the CIS, and the Indian Subcontinent.
Cast Lineup Brings the Characters to Life
The trailer introduced the main cast that will bring Arakawa’s characters into the anime spotlight. Kensho Ono, known for his role as Toma in Hell’s Paradise, will voice Yuru. Yume Miyamoto, who played Rouge in Metallic Rouge, will voice Asa. Fan-favorite Yuichi Nakamura, recognized for his role as Gojo in Jujutsu Kaisen, joins the lineup as Dera. Rounding out the main group is Misaki Kuno, who voices Xiaolan in The Apothecary Diaries, taking on the role of Gabby.
The Creative Team Behind the Adaptation
Masahiro Ando, acclaimed for Sword of the Stranger, is directing the anime at Studio Bones Film. The script will be overseen by Noboru Takagi, the writer behind Golden Kamuy. Character designs will be handled by Nobuhiro Arai, best known for work on Bungo Stray Dogs, while Kenichiro Suehiro, who composed music for Fire Force, will set the tone with an evocative score. With such an experienced team, expectations are high for both the action and the emotional beats of the series.
The Story of Daemons and Destiny
Hiromu Arakawa, beloved for Fullmetal Alchemist, launched Daemons of the Shadow Realm in Square Enix’s Monthly Shonen Gangan magazine in December 2021. The series has already released ten volumes in Japan, with Square Enix providing English-language editions as well. The story follows twins Yuru and Asa, who are destined to control powerful supernatural entities known as Daemons. Separated at a young age and unaware of their true heritage, the siblings must navigate a perilous path filled with battles, betrayals, and revelations as they fight to reunite and fulfill their birthright while saving their world from destruction.
