Gachiakuta Takes the Top Spot

Crunchyroll has officially announced that Gachiakuta was the most-watched anime of Summer 2025. The announcement came on September 30, the last day of the season, with the Gachiakuta anime’s official X account revealing its No. 1 global ranking in Crunchyroll’s viewing charts. From its premiere in July, the series maintained the top spot consistently, securing the highest average views per episode across more than 200 countries and regions.

Staff and Cast Celebrate the Milestone

The success sparked celebrations not only from fans but also from the creators themselves. Kei Urana, the manga author, expressed heartfelt gratitude to viewers for supporting the adaptation. Voice actors Katsuyuki Konishi (Enjin), Misuki Saiga (Tamsy Caines), and Hisako Toujou (Tomme Mima) also shared messages of thanks, acknowledging the fans who helped make the series one of the season’s biggest hits.

Why Gachiakuta Stands Out

Unlike many mainstream shonen titles, Gachiakuta carved its own identity through innovative world-building and refreshing representation. While its manga had a relatively modest following, the anime adaptation struck a chord with audiences by focusing on its unique setting as much as on its action and characters. The environment itself influences the narrative, creating a layered and immersive story world.

Another factor driving its popularity is the diversity in its character portrayals. Unlike some anime that fall back on stereotypes when including international characters, Gachiakuta introduces a broader spectrum of representation with authenticity, earning praise from global viewers.

The Future of Gachiakuta

The anime’s rise shows no signs of slowing down. Despite already claiming the crown for Summer 2025, only half of its planned episodes have been released. With another 12 episodes set to air in Fall 2025, anticipation is building over how far Gachiakuta will go in cementing its place as one of the defining new shonen anime of the decade.
