The upcoming anime adaptation of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s iconic sci-fi novel All You Need Is Kill has revealed a new trailer and visual, setting the stage for one of the most anticipated releases of 2025. Produced by Warner Bros. Japan and animated by Studio 4°C, the film is directed by Kenichiro Akimoto and has already made waves across international film festivals this season.
Global Screenings Across Major Film Festivals
The anime film has been screened at prestigious festivals including the Annecy International Animation Film Festival, Fantasia International Film Festival, Sitges International Fantastic Film Festival, and New York Comic Con. More screenings are lined up in the coming months at the Animation Is Film Festival in Los Angeles, the Bucheon International Animation Film Festival in Korea, the Leeds International Film Festival in England, and the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival, among others.
These global appearances underscore the film’s growing buzz among both anime and mainstream audiences. With its mix of science fiction, action, and psychological depth, All You Need Is Kill promises to bring an intense cinematic experience to fans worldwide.
A Powerful Adaptation of a Sci-Fi Classic

Based on Sakurazaka’s 2004 novel, All You Need Is Kill follows Keiji, a soldier caught in a deadly time loop, forced to relive the same battle against alien invaders over and over again. The story explores courage, survival, and human persistence in the face of hopeless repetition.
The novel previously inspired the 2014 Hollywood film Edge of Tomorrow, starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, but the new anime adaptation is said to stay truer to Sakurazaka’s original vision, emphasizing the emotional and psychological struggles of its characters.
Cast and Crew

The voice cast includes Ai Mikami as Rita, Natsuki Hanae as Keiji, Kana Hanazawa as Shasta, and Hiccorohee as Raychell. The film’s screenplay is written by Yuichiro Kido, with art direction by Tomotaka Kubo and music by Yasuhiro Maeda. The theme song “Tsuretette” by AKASAKI adds a dynamic energy to the film’s soundtrack, while mechanical design by IZMOJUKI ensures the mecha elements stay visually striking.
The production team also features co-director Yukinori Nakamura, animation directors Tomonari Nakajima and Hisato Tokumaru, and CGI direction by Takanori Nakashima — all contributing to the project’s cinematic scale and aesthetic intensity.
Studio 4°C Brings the Vision to Life
Known for their unique visual storytelling and avant-garde style, Studio 4°C has taken charge of animation, promising breathtaking visuals and dynamic action sequences. The combination of fluid animation, intricate world-building, and strong direction suggests this adaptation could redefine the sci-fi anime film genre for a new era.
